Walking is one of the best ways to hit your weight loss goals. That's why step counters like the FitBit have suddenly become a popular wearable device. 

Not only does the FitBit monitor your fitness activity, it also provides simple-to-understand metrics that anyone can use to get more movement.

This app is for the active person looking to monitor success. This app helps you record your runs, bike rides, and other training as well. This app allows your to compare that day's workout with workouts in the past.

Strava allows people to be more social as well. Share your success with others and compare your results to other people in your network.

What happens if you forgot your FitBit or if you want to record an activity that your FitBit doesn't document well?

No worries!

You can upload information into the app as well. Strava's uploader tool will allow you to upload files 25 MB and smaller as long as they are GPX, TCX, or FIT format.

Strava is free. However, you have the option to upgrade to the premium membership. This will allow you to set goals. It will also allow you to get an analysis of your heart rate and pace analysis. You are able to upgrade and downgrade anytime at your discretion.

3. LEADERBOARD

If you are, then this app will have some enjoyable features for you. The format is a simple leaderboard of where you and all your friends rank regarding your amount of steps.

Leaderboard allows people to connect with friends and family to see who has the most steps. You can compare the amount of steps for a week or a lifetime with anyone. The app allows you to sync between devices.

Get notifications when you pass your friends in the amount of steps! The app works in real time, so you will know right away. Also know exactly how many days that you have passed 10,000 steps! Another feature is that you can add people to be your friends that are in your challenge.

Watching your progress compared to friends (and strangers) can help motivate you. Once you've passed up one person, you might feel the motivation to pass the next person on the leaderboard. It's always nice to let people at work know how many more steps you've walked than them, too.

4. MyFitnessPal

This app is made to allow you to count calories that you consume throughout the day. This is extremely helpful in showing you exactly how many calories that you eat.

Many people who have weight loss goals have a specific amount of calories that they can consume every day. And many people do not meet these calorie restrictions. Too many people cheat and may not even realize it.

When you see it written out, you can see exactly what you are eating and how many calories you are eating.

There are over 5 million foods in the database, so don't worry about not finding what you ate.

MyFitnessPal connects with the FitBit weight loss feature to assist you even further.

For exercises that aren't connected to your FitBit, you can add those by yourself. There's a community for additional support. Also, the app connects to all of your devices.

This app is great for someone who likes a lot of customization and a lot of detail. This connects to your FitBit and tells you just about anything that you could want to know. Other apps can tell you how many steps you've taken that week or in your lifetime.

FitLine will allow you to monitor your steps within any period of time. Of course, keep in mind if you want to look for data from over a month ago, you need to have a premium account.

One of the unique features is that this app divides your time between very active, fairly active, lightly active, and stationary moments.

This app wants you to wear your FitBit at all times so that you get a complete idea of your activity habits. This app also calculates averages for you. It's also very easy to read which makes you more likely to actually use the app. You can use the app. Now, you only need to work on getting some more steps in your daily routine.

6. FindMyFitBit

Did you lose your FitBit?

I mean, you didn't just hide it for the day so you could use an excuse to not have any steps...have you actually lost it?

If so, then FindMyFitBit can help you out!

Download this app before you lose your FitBit. Then open it before your FitBit runs out of battery. You'll have your FitBit back before you know it!

So how does this app work? 

It gives you "hot", "warm", and "cold" clues. It also allows you to use it indoors and outdoors.

The one negative thing about this app is that it only connects with specific models. The compatible models: Force, Flex, FitBit One, Charge HR,Charge, Blaze, Alta, and Zip. This app works with the Apple Store.
