Publisher's summary

Do you struggle to write every day? Many people dream of becoming a successful author, but can't *find* the time to write. The truth is this: Great writers don't have more time than you do. They make time to write. Not only do they make time, they also follow specific routines that help them avoid writer's block altogether.

By developing the "writing habit" you'll have the confidence to sit down in front of a computer every day, knowing the words will come.

Your Goal:: Write 2,000 Words a Day - Every Day!One of the key factors to effectively developing any habit is choosing a specific, measurable goal. So if you want to become a prolific writer, then you'll need to choose a specific word count for each day. While I *suggest* 2,000 words as a goal, you can pick any number that fits in with your busy schedule. You might choose 500 or 1,000 words a day. Or, you might have more time than I do (or write faster than I do) and choose to write 3,000 or 10,000 words each day. The important thing is to establish a daily word count goal and then stick to it.

In Writing Habit Mastery you'll learn how to incorporate writing into your daily routine. What you'll get is a strategy and list of tools that will help you develop a sustainable writing habit and demolish writer's block.

Be a writer! Get rich quick! Ask me how!

Any additional comments?

Anyone can tell you, "every day commit to sitting down and don't get up until you've typed x amount of words", but I was hoping for a discussion of why it's hard to write, emotionally. Or psychologically. That is something I would find truly helpful. Instead this book reads like a non-creative person's list of suggestions that are pragmatic and process-based, which some people may be looking for, but do not seem to be founded on an understanding of actual roadblocks I know I for one face. I'm sure someone might find some of these ideas useful. As for me I have no intention of doing things like imposing metrics upon myself of how much I have written in a given period per day.To me this book feels like a sales pitch on how you - yes you, Joe Nobody! - can get rich chasing your dream of being a writer. It makes me feel like the profession is going through a Wild West period with ebooks and self-publishing. This book feels a bit sensational and hoakey. But who knows, maybe it will help other people.

Quick and Effective Tips

There is nothing in-depth here, but that doesn't mean it isn't valuable. If you - as the writer - are willing to do what it is necessary to be a writer, then this collection of down and dirty tips is designed to maximize productivity and minimize procrastination. As with anything like this, it's up to you to implement them, but based on the common sense nature of the author's advice, anyone serious about the idea will find an effective tool kit here.

Truly a wast of money

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If the book had any value

Would you ever listen to anything by S. J. Scott again?

Never - his aim seems to be - making money with the less possible amount of efford

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Matt Stone?

He does his sales pitch just fine

What character would you cut from Writing Habit Mastery?

The writer

Any additional comments?

When you ask people to pay for knowledge and then makes them feel cheated - you can only come of bad. At least try to do a decent job next time

Keep Pen and Paper close!

Any additional comments?

This audio book was very short but jammed pack with information. I listened to it from my desk with a pen and paper to write it all down. I will definitely be reading this again and ordering more books by SJ Scott!

If you want more great info from this author, he has a blog. I read a post about breaking bad habits that was amazing! Great stuff!

Repeat Listen, Repeat Read

Just finished listening to this entire book for the second time. I've also read it on kindle and just bought the print edition of this book today to have any easy-to-reference version. I don't regret spending a single penny to own all 3 formats of this book, the first I've ever done this with. It's really that good.

Simple, motivating and highly actionable content with zero fluff means a quick listen or read that gives you plenty of takeaways in minutes. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to be a more productive writer! Solid, easy to listen to narration in the audible version, too.

Profoundly UNREMARKABLE

The fact that it's essentially just a White Paper, is one thing; the fact that the Ideas and Information are common sensical and unoriginal, at their best, and inaccurate or objectively wrong and misleading, regarding other approaches, eg "The ultimate litmus test for judging the quality of your writing is the amount of people willing to pay for it."
That's a fine litmus test, if that's what you believe, but it is unequivocally Not the "ultimate litmus test for good writing."

Short and concise

I listened to this as preparation for NaNoWriMo and got a lot of help in establishing a daily writing habit.

It felt like the author had interviewed me personally about my procrastination struggle and had then given me actionable steps to follow.

Audio books are hard for me to bookmark so I have also downloaded the ebook version for highlighting purposes.

encouraging

this is a straightforward encouraging book about how to focus and write daily.

this is nothing new, but I love the way he presented it and I always need something to kind of give me a kick in the rear when I'm moving slow.

I might even look at some of his other nonfiction books because of this.

I do recommend this book if you need something to keep you motivated.

This is a blog instead of a book!

This is one of the worst book I've listened to. It is not a well written book but a fast production blog, as the author's background is a blog writer. The narrator is one of the worst I've listened to. His voice is so unnatural. Every word he spoke was a reminder of "This is someone else's book I narrate. I have no interest in the content." Bad actor.
