Health Benefits of Pu-erh Tea
Maybe you have heard of Pu-Erh tea? (Also known as Puer) Perhaps you haven’t.

In summation, the basic health benefits of pu-erh tea are:
- Smooth digestion
- Mental alertness
- Dental Health
- Decreased Stress
- Lower Cholesterol
- Decreased chances of type II Diabetes
- General circulatory system health
This tea has a smooth and mild flavor, although some claim it has an “earthy” taste.
Some studies show that the cancer fighting properties of tea may be slightly lower in Pu-erh tea than others teas, due to the fact the longer fermentation and curing time for this strong tea.
Conversely however, this longer brewing time also means that many of the other properties are shown to be stronger in studies: specifically the heart healthy tea benefits.
Pu-erh is extremely popular in China, where many tout it’s strong cholesterol reducing benefits.
Pu-erh is made from aged leaves and fermented for a long time. Due to this process of making Pu-erh, this tea does not go stale, but actually is considered to “improve” with age, not unlike a fine wine.
The smooth properties in this tea will aid in digestion, although the flavor of the tea is not for everyone, many people swear by the distinct and slightly bitter flavor.
